Since Jayathi Murthy became OSU president in 2022 she has led Oregon's largest university through a $1.75 billion fundraising campaign and the dissolution of the Pac-12 conference. She has had a statewide economic influence through her leadership in expanding Oregon's semiconductor industry and STEM access to underrepresented groups. And she is making changes in her own academic discipline, engineering, by helping attract more female students to the field.

William Ripple is AWS’s director. He is a scientist at the US’s Conservation Biology Institute and Distinguished Professor at Oregon State University. Ripple was the lead author on the communication – endorsed by 15,364 scientists from 184 countries – titled Global Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A second Notice in 2017 that warned that people had to practice environmentally sustainable alternatives to counter catastrophic biodiversity loss and other drastic impacts on the natural world due to human activities.
“2020 was a very impactful year. While there had been small amounts of research happening, the industry as a whole recognized that we had a significant problem,” said Elizabeth Tomasino, an associate professor of enology – the study of wine – at OSU.
Oregon State University Cascades announced that they will be purchasing 46 additional acres of land on Bend's Westside. The land which is adjacent to their current 10 acre site was previously a pumice mine site.
For the 11th year running, Oregon State University’s Extension Service is hosting a live stream of its chicken hatching program. Folks all over the world interested in watching cute chicks emerge from their eggs can do so by tuning in to the livestream on OSU’s website. Hatfield Marine Science Day: Hatfield Marine Science Day is an annual science fair and open house featuring the marine science programs and research at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Mass timber exhibit: Want to see a cool example of mass timber engineering? Visit the College of Forestry’s PFSC Atrium to check out a project created by OSU students enrolled in WSE 425/525 “Timber Tectonics in the Digital Age,” a collaborative course between OSU’s Department of Wood Science and Engineering and the University of Oregon’s Department of Architecture.
