Dept. of Public Safety to host Coffee with a Cop event on Oct. 3: Join Oregon State University’s Department of Public Safety for the upcoming Coffee with a Cop event from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 3. The event will be held in the covered patio area of the SEC Plaza. Coffee with a Cop provides an opportunity for members of the university and the Corvallis community to meet with OSU’s police and public safety officers in a casual setting to ask questions and share ideas. Free fresh brewed coffee will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

4-H Open House in Benton County: The annual 4-H Open House takes place Oct. 6, 6:30 p.m., at the Benton County Fairgrounds Solar Building. Benton County 4-H serves over 3,000 youth annually through community clubs, school programs and camps. Youth who are 9-19 years of age as of Sept. 1, 2022, are eligible to join 4-H. Reporting workplace injuries: The University Health & Safety Committee wants to promote health and safety by reminding employees that all on the job near-miss/accident/injuries, or work-related illness should be reported to your supervisor immediately, so that your supervisor can ensure that any potential hazards are addressed. Supervisors should document and report these to the University via the HR Advocate Public Incident Reporting form, which is available online at https://risk.oregonstate.edu/workerscomp/forms. Recruiting participants for bicycling simulator experiment: The OSU Bicycling Simulator lab is seeking participants for an experiment who are at least 18 years old and have ridden a bicycle in the last 10 years. The purpose of this study is to make autonomous vehicles safer for bicyclists. Participation involves a one-hour time commitment and coming to the OSU Bicycling Simulator. Free COVID tests: Free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests are available on the Corvallis and Bend campuses and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Each box contains two tests. While supplies last, OSU community members can pick up these self-test kits without restrictions. Please note the FDA has extended the self-test kit expiration dates by six months.
Ralph Miller Lane: As part of work being done at Valley Football Center, Ralph Miller Lane will be closed between Protho Field and Valley Football Center to allow a crane to move equipment to VFC. Work is scheduled to take place on Monday, Oct. 3 between 7-11 a.m. The sidewalk on the Protho field side of the street will remain open to pedestrians (view map).
