How one entomologist's multidisciplinary work aims to improve bee health (Entomology Today)

Priyadarshini Chakrabarti Basu, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of pollinator health and apiculture in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology at Mississippi State University. She also holds a courtesy faculty position in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University. Her lab focuses on understanding the impacts of multiple stressors on bee health and how best to formulate strategies to mitigate or counteract such stressors. She uses an array of transdisciplinary tools and approaches across various fields such as bee physiology, bee nutrition, bee toxicology, bee neuroethology, multiomics, pollinator biology, and apiculture practices.

COCC, NeighborImpact launch child care business training program to help address need (KTVZ)

Last month, the college was awarded a four-year, $242,700 U.S. Department of Education grant that will provide funding to alleviate child care costs for low-income students. The funds will also help launch the Bend-based Little Kits Early Learning & Child Care Center at Oregon State University-Cascades, envisioned as a year-round program with an integrated teacher-training component for education students.

Queer History Month Timeline Walk: The Pride Center and SOL: LGBTQ+ Multicultural Support Network are commemorating Queer History Month with a timeline that highlights significant moments in LGBTQIA2S+ history from 1924-2016. Pregame tailgater in Berkeley: The OSU Alumni Association is hosting a tailgater Oct. 30, 1:30 p.m. in Berkeley. It will be held at the International House, adjacent to Memorial Stadium, before the Beavs battle the Golden Bears. $25 for OSUAA members, $30 for non-members, $15 for children 12 and under.
