Oregon’s biggest university continues to get bigger. Oregon State University announced Tuesday it has a record number of students enrolled this fall. That means it continues to be the state’s largest university, with 34,108 students enrolled this fall — a more than 2% increase from last year. (see also Gazette-Times, KPTV, KEX)
It’s been said a long journey starts with a single step. In the case of Ivory Lyles, the new Oregon State University vice provost of extension and engagement and director of the OSU Extension Service, it starts with a visit to the state’s 36 counties.
Oregon State University professor Erica Fischer was part of a team of researchers who set out to study how the town recovered, what mitigation efforts were successful in protecting school buildings and what lessons Paradise has for other communities affected by wildfire.
Although the country has maintained a very low number of cases throughout the pandemic, this has come at a great cost to international collaboration in various domains, Chunhuei Chi of Oregon State University’s Center for Global Health told the Guardian. He said the Tsai Ing-wen administration fears the Kuomintang (KMT) opposition would exploit any outbreak that could occur after reopening and therefore ruin the Democratic Progressive Party's chances in the upcoming local elections.

Albany Veterans Day Parade: The 70th Annual Veterans Day celebration will be on Nov. 11 at 12:30 p.m. Rather than a traditional parade, this year’s will take a reverse parade format, where veterans and floats will be placed around town for the public to drive by and witness.

Farming on the Urban Edge: Washington State University in partnership with Oregon State University announces “Farming on the Urban Edge,” a series of five online conference sessions held from 2:30-5:30 p.m. on the second Friday of each month starting in November.
