Oregon State University researchers say they’ve found that one person can have the capability of controlling multiple ground and aerial robots at one time without getting burned out.
She points to a 2017 Oregon State University study that found canola and other Brassica plant species could coexist in the valley so long as the crops are properly distanced.
"Plant breeding is a long process, so even though we started this research seven years ago, we’re excited to have some new naked barley releases on the horizon during this cycle," said Brigid Meints, project director and barley breeder at Oregon State University. "Naked barley is a really exciting crop to work with because there are so many potential end-uses and it is beautiful and flavorful, but there are a lot of challenges associated with turning it into a multi-use crop."

Tree School: Tree School Clackamas, Oregon’s largest forestry and natural resource education event of the year, will open registration at 10 a.m., Feb. 6. The Clackamas Tree School on Saturday, March 23, will feature 73 classes covering key topics to support the successful management of small woodlands. People can register online, in person or by mail. Application opening Feb. 5 for WOHESC funding: The Sustainability Office, Community Engagement & Leadership, and ASOSU are excited to offer OSU students an opportunity to attend the 2024 Washington Oregon Higher Education Sustainability Conference (WOHESC) taking place March 4-6 at Western Washington University. Up to 18 students will be funded to participate. Funding will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis to students who complete the application opening by 7 p.m., Feb. 5.

Internationalization Grant: The deadline for the 2023-24 Internationalization Grant has been extended 5 p.m., Feb. 16. Grants of up to $5,000 are offered for projects that advance internationalization within one of three tracks, aligned with “Prosperity Widely Shared”: Research and Innovation; Global and Intercultural Learning; and Career and Workforce Development. $15K of funding available: The OSU Advantage Accelerator is currently seeking applications that describe technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span six months or less, beginning in March 2024.
