“I don’t know if it’s going to even itself out in the end,” said Jon Boeckenstedt, vice provost of enrollment management at Oregon State University, of the drop in completed FAFSAs. “I don’t know if those are students that weren’t going to enroll in college anyway? We don’t have any insight into that.”

Beaver plates: Oregon State University, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles, is launching a new OSU Beaver license plate. This week marks the start of a voucher sale period. Once 3,000 vouchers have been sold, the Oregon DMV will begin manufacturing the new plates. In addition to regular title, registration and plate fees, the new OSU Beaver plate costs $40 at first purchase and at each registration renewal. Every sale will directly support the university. Gerontology conference: The 47th Annual Gerontology Conference, “Healthy Aging-Friendly Communities: Connecting People and Places through Research and Practice,” will be held Friday, May 31, at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center on the OSU campus. Gerontology professionals from across the country will present more than 25 educational aging-friendly topics for health and human service professionals and the public. FYI Friday – Medicare Part A & B: When & How. This course is intended for employees reaching Medicare eligibility and/or Medicare eligible employees losing PEBB health benefits due to retirement, reduced FTE or leaving OSU employment. OSU ID Card update – action needed by June 30: The OSU Key Shop and the ID Center are collaborating on a project to update the building access control system and ensure that all students, faculty and staff obtain an Orange ID card. An Orange ID has a bright orange border on the front of the card and says “Orange Card” on the bottom edge. This project will impact users who received their current cards BEFORE July 2019 and did not obtain an Orange ID. If you received your current ID card after this date, no action is needed. Employee Community Climate Survey: Final reminder: The 2024 OSU Employee Community Climate Survey launched on May 3 with an email invitation to employees from the Office of Institutional Diversity (OID). Civic Campus Project: The City of Corvallis is exploring improvements to the Civic Campus, which includes City Hall and the Municipal Court. These buildings are located along the historic Madison Avenue corridor, which connects downtown Corvallis with OSU's campus to the west. Improvements are intended to address safety, resiliency, accessibility and energy efficiency. Professional development award: Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2024 University Mentoring and Professional Development Award. This award, presented annually at University Day, recognizes any classified, professional faculty or faculty member who excels in mentoring, supporting and encouraging OSU employees, especially women and those from under-represented groups or non-traditional careers, and making available to them opportunities for professional, educational and personal development. Fulbright Outreach Lecturing Fund: Bring a current Fulbright Visiting Scholar from another university in the U.S. to OSU: A typical OLF visit is two to five days long, with the scholar completing guest lectures, cultural events and other similar engagements on and off campus. All expenses are covered by Fulbright with no financial commitment required from OSU. Applications accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year. Campus Way: As part of the Kelley District Utility Plant project, SW Campus Way between SW 26th Street and SW Memorial Place will be closed May 29-June 10. The closure is necessary to allow for crane activity related to the project. Unlike recent, intermittent closures related to the project, this will be a continuous closure of Campus Way. The Kelley Engineering Center south entrance will also be closed. The north sidewalk and both bicycle lanes in this section of Campus Way will be closed during this time period.
