The international collaboration that included Oregon State University’s Jonathon Valente was led by the University of California Santa Barbara’s Kelsey McCune when she was at the University of Washington. Findings were published in Nature Scientific Reports. “Further studies with wild animals are clearly necessary to develop a better understanding of when, where and why intelligence evolved,” said Valente, a postdoctoral scholar in the OSU College of Forestry.
The Oregon Legislature’s 2022 session ended Friday, March 4, with approval of several key Oregon State University initiatives, including conversion of the Elliott State Forest in southwestern Oregon into an OSU-managed research forest.
But Oregon State University forestry professor John Bailey said the choice is between unchecked wildfires raging across the landscape and aggressive steps to at least partially counteract the forces of climate change.
A number of Oregon State University affiliated authors have been named finalists for the Oregon Book Awards. Sponsored by Literary Arts, the Oregon Book Awards program honors the accomplishments of the state’s finest writers who work in genres of poetry, fiction, graphic literature, drama, literary nonfiction and literature for young readers.

It's amazing how these tiny feathered balls of energy are able to find enough food when the days are short and the nights are cold. There are three Anna's hummingbirds that frequent the feeder outside my kitchen window: a female, a male and a juvenile.
