Board of Trustees: The Oregon State University Board of Trustees will meet Jan. 18 and 19 to consider election of board officers, a presidential compensation adjustment and a debt resolution of long-term refinancing. The board will meet from 9:15 a.m.-1:35 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Horizon Room of the Memorial Union on the Corvallis campus. Board committees will meet from 8 a.m.-4:10 p.m. Jan. 18 in the same location. Working at a Land Grant Institution 101 Workshop: Did you know that Oregon State University (OSU) is the only land-grant university (LGU) in Oregon? Racial Advocacy: Racial injustice continues to impact our world. You see it, you feel it, and you’re against it. But, what can you do about it? Many people have a desire to advocate for racial and ethnic minorities, but are simply not sure where to start. This gathering is intended to be an open conversation about the most common and professional struggles faced by racial and ethnic minoritized communities. In this talk, attendees will learn about the inclusive teaching framework used by the Difference, Power and Oppression (DPO) Program. The DPO Program works with faculty across all fields and disciplines at OSU to develop inclusive curricula that addresses institutionalized systems of power, privilege and inequity in the U.S. The session will focus on providing practical reflection questions and tips for implementing the DPO framework in your own teaching practice. FYI Friday – Behind-the-scenes of Student Care Team: Have you ever made a referral to Student Care and weren’t quite sure what happens next? New Trauma-Informed Yoga class from CAPE: Beginning Jan. 22, CAPE Survivor Advocacy will be hosting a trauma-informed yoga class for survivors of gender-based violence. This class is led at a gentle to medium pace. All bodies and levels of movement are welcome and modifications will be offered. Limited yoga mats are available – please bring your own mat if possible. Nominations open for OSU Safety Award: Environmental Health & Safety is accepting nominations for the OSU Safety Award, a peer recognition program that recognizes outstanding efforts to encourage and help improve safety at OSU. Nominees must be student employees, staff or faculty members. Employees from all units are eligible, as long as they are not working in a position where safety is one of their primary responsibilities. The program includes an individual award and a team award. Adulting 101 Offered through OSU Extension 4H: Join Lane County 4-H for the Adulting 101 series. This five-week course is designed for all teens ages 12-18 in Lane County. Classes include career readiness, budgeting basics, self-defense, emergency preparedness, CPR and first aid certification, food preservation basics, mental health and wellness care, cooking basics and car basics. Adulting 101 is designed to provide teens skills and confidence for entering post-high school life. Internationalization Grant: The Office of Global Engagement has announced the Internationalization Grant application cycle for 2023-24, opening Dec. 1 and closing Jan. 31. This year, the grant is offered in three tracks, aligned with Oregon State University’s new strategic plan “Prosperity Widely Shared,” focusing on research and innovation, global and intercultural learning and career and workforce development. Grant funds are provided through the INTO OSU Joint Venture Internationalization Fund. Full details are available on the website.

Office of Human Resources Learning & Development is now accepting FYI Friday presentation proposals for Spring 2024. FYI Friday is a program where campus partners are invited to present what they’re working on to a broad audience of professional faculty, academic faculty and classified staff. FourSight Mindset Reveal Workshop: How do you approach a challenge? FourSight Mindset Reveal is a new workshop presented by the Office of University Human Resources that dives deep into the way that we solve problems together. This engaging workshop helps people learn more about their own mindset, learn appreciation for how colleagues work, and together be able create a stronger team environment and reach more creative solutions.
