Oregon researchers hope to provide new tools to help wine growers address climate change, smoke (Northwest Public Broadcasting)

Researchers are developing special coatings to protect Northwest wines from any smoke flavors. Vineyard managers could spray the coatings onto their grapes to protect the fruit from any smoke flavors. Oregon State University researchers are developing the new coatings.

The wet, cool forests along Oregon's Western Cascades could see at least twice as much wildfire activity in the next three decades, according to a new simulation led by Oregon State University researchers.
 

Does March Madness performance drive college application rates? (Forbes)

After the 2021 NCAA Tournament, the top two teams saw their applications increase by more than 11% between the 2021–22 academic year and the 2022–23 school year. Even the University of Arkansas and Oregon State University, both of which ranked eighth, saw increases of 22.16% and 10.62%, respectively.

Pilot program teaching teens to be Food Heroes (Argus Observer)

The collaborative effort involves numerous community partners, including those with the Oregon DHS Child Welfare and Self Sufficiency programs, which are connecting the dots with an array of community partners in Grant, Harney and Malheur counties. Curriculum for the classes is developed by two members of OSU Extension Service - Malheur County. Music à la Carte: Brian Quincey, viola and Denise Fujikawa, harp: This dynamic duo pairs Oregon Symphony violist Brian Quincey and Portland State University harp instructor Denise Fujikawa – partners in music and in life. Quincey has been a member of the Oregon Symphony since 1997. Fujikawa is a former member of the Sacramento Symphony, and is an active chamber musician and soloist.
