With the pandemic, some people have dedicated times to teaching resiliency — not just for adults, but for young children too.

“Coyotes are very vigilant” at kill sites, says Taal Levi, a professor at Oregon State University, who co-authored the recent study in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. “They’re usually not alone. There can be alarm calls, multiple eyes and ears looking out, and when you have a group of coyotes, you’ve got some benefit in defense against first identification of a cougar and defense against.”

Dr. Melissa Ward and colleagues from San Diego State University and partners from Oregon State University to develop science-based management practices for co-management of Oregon submerged aquatic vegetation and shellfish. A total of $170,520 will support the conservation and restoration of estuarine submerged aquatic vegetation while supporting shellfish aquaculture and native shellfish populations.

Oregon State University’s Board of Trustees on Friday approved varying tuition increases for different groups of students. OSU uses a cohort tuition model for its undergraduates, in which tuition rates differ depending on whether a student is new to the university or continuing. (see also KDRV)

Honors College/Center for the Humanities Summer Internships: The Honors College and the Center for the Humanities invite applications from faculty and undergraduate teams for the summer 2022 Honors College-Center for the Humanities Research Internship Program. Up to seven $4,500 internships will be awarded to support Honors College undergraduates working with College of Liberal Arts faculty. Faculty mentors will receive $1,000 in salary. Sidewalk closure on Jefferson: For work related to the Community Hall Slope Project, a sidewalk closure on the north side of Jefferson Avenue from 15th Street to Benton Place is scheduled (view map).
