If you’ve read an article about Oregon’s food industry in recent years, chances are you’ve seen Masoni’s name in print. Sometimes she’s there as a quoted subject, offering insight about a particular product or sector. Sometimes the primary subject of the story mentions Masoni, or someone at the Food Innovation Center — where she has worked for 23 years — is quoted as crediting her for playing a pivotal role in developing a recipe.

Harnessing hemp: Empowering Native American economies (Lab Roots)

How can hemp production help boost local Native American economies? This is what a $10 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture hopes to achieve as they recently awarded this grant to the Global Hemp Innovation Center at Oregon State University (OSU) to foster collaboration with 13 Native American Tribes across the western United States, including California, Montana, Nevada, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon with the goal of creating economic stimuli for those communities while improving hemp production.

The OSU Advantage Accelerator is currently accepting applications for its virtual spring Accelerate cohort which begins April 9. Traffic and Maintenance

Fairbanks: As part of the Fairbanks Hall Renovation project, the Fairbanks Hall west parking lot will be closed March 21-29 for gutter work on the building. All ADA parking spaces in the parking lot will be closed. The sidewalks and walkways bordering Fairbanks Hall on all sides of the building will be closed in phases to allow for equipment to be maneuvered around the area. These closures will be intermittent. This includes the walkways on the north and west sides of Fairbanks Hall, the west sidewalk on 26th Street and the north sidewalk on Jefferson Way. Staff will be present in the area to help pedestrians navigate around the sidewalk closures. Pedestrians may use the east sidewalk on 26th Street, the south sidewalk on Jefferson Way or the walkway west of the Asian & Pacific Cultural Center as alternate routes.
