“We need the Administration and Congress to enact policies that will substantially reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions from logging, and from fossil fuels, and increase accumulation of carbon in our forests,” the letter reads. Other lead signatories include Beverly Law, a professor emeritus at Oregon State University and an expert on the forest carbon cycle, and William Ripple, a climate scientist and professor of ecology at Oregon State.
OSU tweeted on Oct. 28 acknowledging that there was a “report of violence against a Corvallis community member.” The tweet included that the university would assist the CPD investigation and confirm any student engagement. According to Oregon State University spokesperson Steve Clark, Guido was a student at the university until May 2020. He said that Westbrooks and Rackley have never gone to OSU.
Now, an Oregon State University study aims to investigate the health and flavor impact of smoke exposure on grape production and wineries, following the increasing number of wildfires in the West. (see also Patch)
When Oregon State University’s (OSU’s) Global Hemp Innovation Center formed a Wildfire Smoke Effects on Hemp Stewardship Committee, Accurso was part of the group. Growers and researchers from Oregon, California and Washington met regularly to discuss the fires’ uncharted impact.
Dr. Cruickshank is an assistant professor at Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences, and she works with dairies through the university extension service. She and Juliana Ranches, PhD, who is an extension beef specialist, started a three-year study this past summer into the effects of smoke exposure on cattle health and, for those in the dairy herd, their milk production.

Monthly Emergency Preparedness Topic: Preparedness Kits. Preparedness kits help bridge the emergency or disaster until normalcy can be restored. Kit recommendations range from 24 hours to 14 days, from personal to vehicle to workplace and household sizes. UPDATED! $15K of Funding Available: The OSU Advantage Accelerator is seeking applications that describe technology-based projects that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Proposals can include expenses for activities related to customer discovery, prototyping, student time, research, commercialization plan development and more. NW Orchard Ave: As part of the Cordley Hall Renewal project, PacifiCorp will be conducting work along NW Orchard Avenue.
