Today in the News Media
Today in the News Media is a synopsis of some of the most prominent coverage of OSU people and programs. Inclusion of any item constitutes neither an endorsement nor a critique, but rather is intended only to make the OSU community aware of significant items in the media. Content appearing includes timely news and feature stories from broadcast, print and online sources. Occasionally, opinion pieces and first-person columns appearing in mainstream media outlets that are written by faculty members and pertain to their academic or professional expertise may be included based on their unique, informative value, timeliness and space constraints. It is not the policy of OSU Today to include Letters to the Editor.
Christopher Nichols, associate professor of history at Oregon State University, said the increasing frequency of the Republican walkouts in Oregon are a symbol of the nationalization of state politics.
Inside a large storage room at Oregon State University, Valerie Stanley opened the door to a massive refrigerated area, releasing a blast of cold air. Shelves 20 feet high towered overhead, loaded with tubes and boxes. Stanley paused for a moment, chose a plastic tube with an orange lid and held it out so I could look through the clear siding. It was filled a cylinder, more than a foot long, of light-brown mud: layers of sediment collected from the ocean floor.
Oregon State University Provost and Executive Vice President Edward Feser announced Wednesday the school’s response to the COVID-19 situation, outlining plans for a shift to remote, online exams and classes and a ban on large school-sponsored events, including OSU-Cascades.
