Oregon State University is teaming up with Hewlett Packard to try and provide more manufacturing and semiconductor jobs in Oregon.
Researchers at Oregon State University recently teamed up with bioengineers to study the impact yeast has on beer, and how that potentially could change into the future. That research has determined that genetically modified yeast strains can alter the fermentation process to create beers with significantly more pronounced hop aromas.
Oregon State University – Cascades will host a public meeting to gather input on a proposal for an Environmental Protection Agency grant to remediate a portion of a former county demolition landfill in preparation for the first phase of development of a future campus innovation district.

Siagatonu is an award-winning poet, teaching artist, mental health educator and community leader who is deeply devoted to the Pacific Islander community. NEW! Wildfire documentary: A new documentary, “Elemental: Redefining our Relationship with Wildfire,” begins a weeklong run Friday, Oct. 28, at Corvallis’ Darkside Cinema. “Elemental” features interviews with scientists including professors Chris Dunn and Bev Law of the OSU College of Forestry. The opening screening at 6:30 will be followed by a question-and-answer session featuring the filmmakers as well as Dunn and OSU’s Eric Fleishman.
NEW! Kids’ Trick-or-Treat: The annual Trick-or-Treat Tour for families takes place on Halloween (Monday, Oct. 31) from 3-5 p.m. You must come to the MU Family Lounge to pick up a map with all of the tour stops before heading out. We have worked with many campus partners to ensure many opportunities for your children to pick up a treat. Costumes are not required but are encouraged. This event is open to students, staff and faculty and you must always remain with your child.
Screening of OSU Films from the 1920s and 1930s: Join us for an in-person viewing of film clips from early productions archived in the OSU Special Collections and Archives. See familiar campus landmarks as well as completely different places and traditions such as the May Pageant, the Bell Field stadium, a tractor contest on campus and lots of fancy hats. FYI Friday – CourseLeaf CLSS for Advisors, Faculty, and Staff: CourseLeaf CLSS is OSU’s section scheduling software and is primarily used by department schedulers to add, remove, cancel and otherwise edit section information that appears in the schedule of classes. While the ability to make changes in data in CLSS is limited to designated department or unit representatives, others may find CLSS a useful tool for querying or exporting term data, viewing past terms and proofing their schedules. OSU's Open Educational Resources Unit is accepting proposals for the Affordable Learning Grant until Nov. 30: The grant provides funding to adopt, adapt or author an open educational resource, such as a textbook. An open textbook is one that is published under an open copyright license and is made freely available online for students, faculty and the public. All funding is a department-to-department transfer. Free COVID tests: Free iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Tests are available on the Corvallis and Bend campuses and at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Each box contains two tests. While supplies last, OSU community members can pick up these self-test kits without restrictions. Please note the FDA has extended the self-test kit expiration dates by six months.
