For the tenth year in a row, Oregon State University has been ranked as one of the top 10 providers of online education in the nation, according to OSU officials.

How fruit is enhanced by thin skin research (Farm Progress)

Oregon State researchers developed SureSeal technology over a decade ago to protect cherries from cracking because of rain. The technology seals the microscopic cracks that can develop as cherries and other fruit grows, protecting it from cracking and exposure to various pathogens.

OSU Food Drive

The OSU Food Drive is happening in the month of February. To see a full list of fundraising activities and events, please see the Food Drive Events Calendar.

Printing and Mailing is collecting food donations: Campus Mail will be dropping off collection bags in your mailboxes; just leave any contributions in the bag in your mail area and we will pick them up. Collection starts Feb. 5 and the last pickup will be Friday, Feb. 23. If you don’t receive a bag and want one, please email campus.mail@oregonstate.edu. We will also be collecting food at our 4700 SW Research Way location. Each donation at Research Way will earn your name in a drawing to win one of our fabulous up-cycled used-banner bags. 

Dodgeball Tournament: Help raise money for the Linn Benton Food Share 1-6 p.m., Feb. 25, in McAlexander Fieldhouse on the basketball courts. Teams of eight will compete against each other in a 16-team bracket to win the trophy. Registration deadline is Feb. 21 and is $40 for an entire team. NEW! Climate Change Anxiety Survey: Feelings of distress because of climate change have become a growing concern, especially among younger generations. Sabine Huemer, professor of practice at the School of Psychological Science at OSU, is examining climate change anxiety among OSU students to help tailor intervention programs. Internationalization Grant: The deadline for the 2023-24 Internationalization Grant has been extended 5 p.m., Feb. 16. Grants of up to $5,000 are offered for projects that advance internationalization within one of three tracks, aligned with “Prosperity Widely Shared”: Research and Innovation; Global and Intercultural Learning; and Career and Workforce Development. Sheltering is appropriate when conditions require you to seek protection in your home, place of employment or other location when disaster strikes. $15K of funding available: The OSU Advantage Accelerator is currently seeking applications that describe technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span six months or less, beginning in March 2024. NEW! Beth Ray Center: As part of the Beth Ray Solar project, SW Stadium Avenue will be closed on the south side of the Beth Ray Center from 6-7:30 a.m., Feb. 9 to allow for crane activity. The road closure will be located between the Beth Ray Center and CH2M HILL Alumni Center. The sidewalks on both sides of Stadium Avenue will also be closed along with two reserved parking spots, the loading dock and the dumpster access area on the south side of the street.
