Project coordinator Julie Adams, an Oregon State robotics professor, said swarm commanders in the exercise managed to choreograph up to 133 ground and air vehicles at a time. The drones were programmed with a set of tactics they could perform semi-autonomously, including indoor reconnaissance and simulated enemy kills.

Masculinity Mondays Discussion Group: This is a space for conversation around masculinity and the ways our society’s perception of masculinity affects us. The discussion group gathers bi-weekly (even-numbered weeks) Mondays from 4-5 p.m. in Hattie Redmond Women and Gender Center.

Water is Power: The Gila River Project. Join artist Joel Slayton and scientist Lisa Johanson as they share their work on the Gila River Project, which investigates one of America’s most expansive ecosystems. They will share details about their mobile laboratory/studio and location-based research, which explores the complex connections between natural and artificial challenges to the river and the environmental and human adaptations shaping its future. 4 p.m. April 16 at Detrick Hall in PRAx.
Film Screening of The Wonder and the Worry: Tickets on sale now for a sneak preview of “The Wonder and the Worry,” at 7 p.m., April 17-18 in Detrick Hall at PRAx. This documentary film traces the fragmentation and upheaval in photojournalism and its impact on the world’s most iconic publication: National Geographic magazine. The film delves into digital disruption and the power of environmental storytelling as it follows the intertwined careers of Chris Johns, OSU alumnus and former National Geographic editor, and his daughter Louise, a working freelance photographer. Dominant Design and Disruptive Production Innovation Seminar: Frank Koppenhagen, visiting professor in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering (MIME), will give an overview of his responsibilities and activities at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Koppenhagen will introduce new perspectives on disruptive product innovation based on the creation of a dominant design. He will speak from 4-5 p.m. April 17 in Rogers 226.

2024 CEOAS Earth Day Lecture: Bold Solutions, Better Planet. Three alums from the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences will challenge the notion that disasters are "natural” and address how deeply divided societies understand, prepare for and cope with environmental change and disasters. Taste Sensitivity Study: We are looking for participants for a research study examining how hunger state influences taste sensitivities to carbohydrates. Participants must be healthy, non-smokers and non-diabetic, aged 18-45. The study will involve performing taste sensitivity tests before and after eating a provided meal. Registration open for Oregon Educators’ Summit: The College of Education, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Education, has announced that registration for the Equitable Accelerated Learning K-8 (ALK-8) statewide summit is now open to all Oregon public school educators. The summit will be held Aug. 6-7 on the Corvallis campus. The two-day event will feature ALK-8 working groups and professional learning for all Oregon educators. Participants will learn about innovative, field-initiated and piloted classroom-based resources and professional development materials reflecting the knowledge and expertise of Oregon literacy and mathematics leaders.
