More than half of all buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed as of Feb. 2, according to analysis of satellite imagery by a team of researchers at Oregon State University and the City University of New York. In northern Gaza, the most populous area of the territory before the war, as much as 82.9% of all buildings were damaged or destroyed.
“Interest in naked barley is increasing, particularly because of the health benefits,” said Brigid Meints, a barley breeder at Oregon State and project director of the grant. “The problem is, compared to crops like wheat or rice or corn, naked barley has been understudied.
The clinic is housed within OSU-Cascades’ Master of Counseling program and allows graduate students to develop expertise in cognitive-behavioral therapies under the close supervision of faculty and clinical supervisors.

Climate Change Anxiety Survey: Feelings of distress because of climate change have become a growing concern, especially among younger generations. Sabine Huemer, professor of practice at the School of Psychological Science at OSU, is examining climate change anxiety among OSU students to help tailor intervention programs. Amrita Menon (biology and psychology) and Isabelle Hall (biochemistry) are two undergraduate student collaborators through the URSA-Engage program. Internationalization Grant: The deadline for the 2023-24 Internationalization Grant has been extended 5 p.m., Feb. 16. Grants of up to $5,000 are offered for projects that advance internationalization within one of three tracks, aligned with “Prosperity Widely Shared”: Research and Innovation; Global and Intercultural Learning; and Career and Workforce Development. Sheltering is appropriate when conditions require you to seek protection in your home, place of employment or other location when disaster strikes. $15K of funding available: The OSU Advantage Accelerator is currently seeking applications that describe technology-based projects in any discipline that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Each project may be awarded up to $15,000 and should span six months or less, beginning in March 2024. Beth Ray Center: As part of the Beth Ray Solar project, SW Stadium Avenue will be closed on the south side of the Beth Ray Center from 6-7:30 a.m., Feb. 9 to allow for crane activity. The road closure will be located between the Beth Ray Center and CH2M HILL Alumni Center. The sidewalks on both sides of Stadium Avenue will also be closed along with two reserved parking spots, the loading dock and the dumpster access area on the south side of the street.
