CORVALLIS, Ore. - The International Students of Oregon State University will hold their annual Spring Festival this Sunday, May 1, in the Memorial Union quad.

International music, dance and cuisine will be featured at the free public event, which runs from noon to 5 p.m.

Several professional musicians will perform at the Spring Festival, including the Deowati Trio, a West African drumming group that has an international portfolio. Also performing will be the Bossa Boys, a three-piece steel drum band that combines Caribbean sounds with classical and pop music.

The Takio Drummers of Monmouth will perform the opening number at the festival, while Eugene's Samba Ja will close the festivities with its blend of African music, hip-hop and samba. In addition, several students representing international student organizations will perform local dance and music from Latin American, Chinese, African, Hmong, Vietnamese and Indian cultures.

International cuisine will be available from different ISOSU affiliates.

"This is a chance for the OSU and Corvallis communities to interact with students from all over the world," said Zachary Dunn, marketing coordinating for ISOSU. "Last year's Spring Festival opened my eyes to the incredible diversity of culture and expression that is at OSU."

ISOSU is an organization that serves more than 1,000 international students at the university, and strives to bring awareness of international cultures and issues to the local community.
