CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University's Master of Business Administration program is once again among the top 100 in the world, according to the Aspen Institute's 2009-10 edition of Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey that ranks business schools based on proven integration of social, environmental and ethical issues into the curriculum.
The OSU program also ranked in Aspen's 2007-2009 survey.
"Earning the Aspen ranking twice in a row demonstrates our ongoing commitment to education in sustainability," said College of Business Dean Ilene Kleinsorge. "Besides offering a core of foundation and advanced entrepreneurial courses, we leverage our sustainability initiative, the Austin Entrepreneurship Program, and our relationship with the business community to give our students unique experiential learning and mentorship opportunities.
"Our graduates are able to create, build, and manage innovative, socially responsible and sustainable enterprises in a global business environment," she added.
The Aspen Institute Center for Business Education, a program of The Aspen Institute Business and Society Program, compiled the report "Beyond Grey Pinstripes," looking at how effectively social and environmental issues are incorporated into the training of future business leaders.
York University in Toronto, Canada, was ranked No. 1 on the list.
"The best business students move quickly into the front ranks of business - and the attitudes and values they bring to the table are deeply influenced by their time in business education," said Judith Samuelson, executive director of the Aspen Institute's Business and Society Program. "The schools that are competitive in the Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking are the real trailblazers; they assure that students have the right skills as well as the will to make things happen."
