CORVALLIS - Four Oregon State University College of Business faculty members have been recognized with Newcomb Fellowships.

Clara Horne, head adviser; Ping Hsieh, assistant professor; Ron Miller, professor; and Charles Neyhart, director of academic programs and department chairman, all received the awards, which are made possible by an endowment by Bernie Newcomb. Newcomb an OSU Class of 1965 graduate, is one of the founders of E*Trade, an on-line financial institution.

Designed to recognize superior faculty performance and instill a spirit of continuous improvement, Newcomb Fellowships are presented to a limited number of the most outstanding College of Business faculty each year.

Horne was cited for establishing high standards in the college's Student Services Office, along with an unparalleled record of service to students. Hsieh was recognized for outstanding teaching, research, service and collegiality.

Miller was cited for superb teaching and long-term service. He has served as a department chairman and has drawn upon his experience as a labor arbitrator to cultivate critical thinking and challenge his students. He also serves as a member of the Corvallis School Board.

Neyhart, the first repeat winner, was selected for his superlative performance as the first director of academic programs in the college and his handling of the department chairmanship.
