CORVALLIS, Ore. - E.R. Jackman, a foundation that works with the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences' development office to raise money for college programs, has named new members to its advisory board.

They are: Kirby Brumfield, Portland; Sue Fisher, Silverton; Mike McNab, Portland; Aurora Zamora-Ronning, Portland.

They join continuing members Dru Sloop, E.R. Jackman president, West Linn; Alan Withers, Paisley; Kent Searles, Baker City; Jack Southworth, Seneca.

E.R. Jackman, named for an OSU Extension agronomist who helped shape Oregon agriculture in the first half of the 20th century, provides scholarships and internship support for students within OSU's College of Agricultural Sciences. The foundation provided awards totaling more than $86,000 in 2005, according to Betsy Hartley, director of external relations for the college.

Among recent recipients of E.R. Jackman awards is Eric Dodson, an undergraduate from Perrydale, Ore., studying agricultural economics and environmental policy. Dodson's award helped with expenses when he worked as an intern in the Washington, D.C., office of Oregon's 2nd District Rep. Greg Walden in the summer of 2005.

An E.R. Jackman award helped Amanda Reich, an undergraduate from Tillamook studying fisheries and wildlife, during her internship on the Zumwalt Prairie with Pat Kennedy from OSU's Union Experiment Station.

"E.R. Jackman is able to help a dozen or more students like Eric and Amanda each year because of the commitment from our board members and generous support from the community," Hartley said.
