CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Department of Music will present its annual Honors Recital on Sunday, May 2, at the LaSells Stewart Center, 875 S.W. 26th in Corvallis.

The recital, which begins at 3 p.m., features solo and ensemble performance by 14 outstanding OSU music students. Graduating performance and music education students will be honored, and top students will receive awards. A reception follows the recital. The event is free and open to the public.

The singers selected to perform are Lori Kelley Devey, soprano, a senior music major from Albany; Summer Dickinson, soprano, a senior music major from Gresham; Erik Hundtoft, baritone, a senior music major from Salem, and Michelle Pedersen, soprano, a senior music major from Salem. The vocalists will perform songs by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Puccini, Richard Strauss, and Johann Strauss, Jr.

Pianists on the program are Tahirih Motazedian, a sophomore music and art major from Corvallis, and Dow Yeh, a senior music and biology major from Albany. They will perform piano works by Liszt and Rachmaninoff.

Violinist Andrew Justice, a senior music major from Corvallis, will perform Brahms' Sonata No. 3 in D for violin and piano, accompanied by pianist Yeh. John Donohue, xylophone, a music major from Juneau, Alaska, will perform George Hamilton Green's "Chromatic Fox Trot." Jon Haek, flute, a senior music and math major from Beaverton, will perform a work by Jules Demersseman.

Also on the program is "Flute Salad," a flute sextet which will perform two movements of Michael Coolen's "Suite for Flute Sextet." Sextet members are Haek; Pippa Barton, a senior from Las Vegas, majoring in music and family finance; Melanie DeLong, a senior music minor and environmental science major from Troutdale; Cecelia Fuller, a biology major from Scappoose; and Sandra Shockley and Angela McGuire of Corvallis.

Piano accompanists will be music department faculty members Rebecca Jeffers and Angela Carlson.
