CORVALLIS- Alumni visiting Oregon State University will notice several changes the university has undergone in the last few years.

The university's annual Homecoming weekend is set for Nov. 1-3, and will feature an important football game against the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Reser Stadium. Other homecoming events include a reunion of the class of '62, the traditional pre-game Beaver Walk, a volleyball game against the University of Oregon, and the Beaver Music Showcase.

One new addition to OSU is the first residence hall built in nearly 30 years. Halsell Hall, is named in honor of Carrie Beatrice Halsell, believed to be the first African American to earn a bachelor's degree from OSU. The residence hall houses approximately 210 students in suite and apartment style rooms and has a "Community Service Learning" theme to encourage responsibility and hands-on learning.

OSU also recently announced a fundraising plan to expand Reser Stadium by approximately 8,000 seats for the kick-off of the 2005 football season. This will include student seating and 3,600 club seats that will be covered. Fans who don't have season tickets can place a deposit on future seats for the 2005 season at Saturday's homecoming game.
