CORVALLIS - Dust off the old kazoo and polish up that tuba. Oregon State University is looking for a few good musicians.
Marketing specialists at the university are seeking students, faculty, staff and community members to participate in a new television advertising spot. All you have to do is play a few lines of the OSU fight song.
And you don't have to sing.
Here's the idea: During the next month or so, OSU hopes to tape a number of people from diverse backgrounds playing the fight song, using a variety of instruments. Some will be shown on camera; some will play in the background while other images are shown, according to Jill Schuster, director of University Marketing.
The goal is to give a different look to the ads allotted to the university during televised athletic events, she said.
"What we'd like to do is highlight the diversity and the personality of Oregon State University," Schuster said. "It's a chance to be creative, have some fun, and show our campus without looking like every other university's spot.
"We're also looking for a wide range of musical instruments, from a sitar to a steel drum," Schuster added.
The spots will be filmed on location around the OSU campus. Interested persons should call University Marketing at 737-4668.
