CORVALLIS - Oregon State University is offering a special three-day course this Sept. 9-11 for individuals who have significant responsibilities in irrigation management.
Offered through the OSU Statewide program, the course will explore the potential and the limitations of scientific irrigation management, according to Marshall English, a professor of bioresource engineering at Oregon State.
Topics to be covered include the dynamics of soil moisture, various irrigation systems and their efficacy, and crop response to water stress or overwatering. Sessions also will cover the economics of optimum water use, principles of irrigation scheduling, integrated irrigation information, and other factors.
The course, held in OSU's LaSells Stewart Center, will be taught by John Selker, Richard Cuenca, Fred Bergsrud and English, all affiliated with Oregon State's Department of Bioresource Engineering.
For more information on the workshop, contact English at 541-737-6308; for information on the cost, or to register, contact OSU Statewide, 1-800-235-6559.
