CORVALLIS - The Corvallis Repertory Singers will hold auditions for available positions on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The auditions will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Benton Hall Room 204 on the Oregon State University campus.

Qualifications for membership include the ability to sing independently and artistically, interest in singing in a challenging and motivating ensemble, and the ability to prepare music independently before rehearsals.

Interested persons will need to perform two songs in contrasting style for the audition, as well as be prepared to demonstrate sight-reading skill. Singers interested in auditioning should call Steven Zielke at 737-5584 to reserve an audition time.

Sponsored by the OSU Department of Music, the ensemble's mission is to provide professional level performances for Willamette Valley audiences, and to provide an artistic outlet for the area's finest singers. Founded by Zielke, who is OSU's director of choral studies, the Corvallis Repertory Singers performed its debut season in 1999-2000 to "large and enthusiastic audiences," Zielke said.

During the 2002-03 season, the ensemble will feature some of the finest in chamber choral music, including Bach's "Magnificat," Faure's moving "Requiem," Brahms's "Liebeslieder Walzes," and Vaughan Williams's "Dona Nobis Pacem."

The distinguished group of singers includes some of the area's finest soloists, and many members are professional musicians and music educators. Zielke is in his fourth year on the OSU faculty.
