CORVALLIS - A public session designed for horse owners will be a featured part of the inaugural Oregon Veterinary Conference, to be held March 8-10 at Oregon State University.

The professional conference, presented by the College of Veterinary Medicine at OSU and the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association, will be at the CH2M-HILL Alumni Center on the OSU campus.

The event includes educational sessions and laboratories for veterinarians and their staff, industry displays, an OVMA business and awards event, and several tracks to address veterinary management of small animals, horses, food animals and other veterinary practice issues.

Veterinary doctors and staff members from across Oregon will attend the conference, which is planned as an annual event. More information about the events, presentations and registration can be obtained by calling 541-737-3076.

The session for horse owners will be on Saturday, March 9, from 1-4 p.m. It will feature presentations by two veterinary doctors on such topics as examinations before purchasing a horse, equine lameness, an update on the West Nile Virus, and treating heaves. The event, which includes a tour of the College of Veterinary Medicine after the session, costs $15. Registration can be made by calling 541-737-3076.
