CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Marching Band Championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, in Reser Stadium on the OSU campus.

Preliminary competition begins at 9:30 a.m., with the finals scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m. The OSU Marching Band will perform at 3 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.

This annual all-day event features 19 high school bands from Oregon and Washington. The show is the season championship for the Northwest Marching Band Circuit, which is made up of high school bands that compete all fall leading up to these finals at OSU.

A panel of nine experts in music and marching band will judge groups on musical and marching performance. Each group is permitted to perform for nine minutes. Trophies are awarded to the winning organizations.

The show is totally run by OSU band students, who take care of guiding bands on and off the field, parking, selling and taking tickets, and assisting the judges. Todd Shechter, the OSU band operations manager, coordinates the day. Brad Townsend is the director of athletic bands at OSU.

An all-day pass to the event is $15 for adults, and $10 for students, seniors and children under 12.
