CORVALLIS - Pianists Angela Carlson and Rebecca Jeffers will perform the premiere of a piece by Jeffers' husband, Ron Jeffers, on Thursday, Oct. 23, at noon in the Memorial Union Lounge at Oregon State University.

The free performance is part of OSU's Music à la Carte concert series, which is open to the public. Audience members are welcome to bring lunch.

The concert, "Fantasies and Fragments," will begin with Ron Jeffers' piece called "Whitman Fragments," based on a choral piece to a Whitman text. The duo will also perform Franz Schubert's "Fantasie in f-minor," and "Four Fantasies on American Folk Tunes," by New York composer Douglas Townsend.

Ron Jeffers, OSU professor emeritus, is a music publisher and owns earthsongs, a Corvallis-based multi-cultural choral music publishing company. Rebecca Jeffers and Carlson are active instructors and musicians with the OSU Department of Music and have played duets together for 25 years.
