CORVALLIS - Temple Grandin, an authority on livestock handling and grazing animal behavior, will speak at Oregon State University Sept. 20 on proper livestock handling, welfare issues, livestock behavior and facilities design.

Her presentation, which is open to the public, costs $15 per person ($5 per person for students).

It begins at 10 a.m. in Withycombe Hall and is part of a beef, sheep and swine management workshop sponsored the OSU Animal Science Department and the OSU Extension Service. Registration for the workshop begins at 9:30 a.m.

An associate professor of animal science at Colorado State University and a regular in the national media, Grandin has written more than 300 articles in scientific journals and livestock periodicals. She has designed facilities in the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and other countries.

Grandin has also appeared on television shows such as 20/20, 48 Hours, and CNN Larry King Live, and she has been featured in People magazine, the New York Times, Forbes, U.S. News and World Report, and Time magazine.
