CORVALLIS - Nine Oregon musicians will compete in Corvallis on Saturday, March 2, for two scholarships totaling $12,500. The winners will use the money to further their professional music careers.
The Lillian and Paul Petri Music Study Scholarship auditions will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Benton Hall Room 303 on the Oregon State University campus. The auditions are open to the public and are free of charge. Audience members are asked to arrive early so that the auditions can begin promptly and without interruption.
Adjudicators are Hamilton Cheifetz, cellist and music professor at Portland State University; pianist Carol Rich, also of PSU; and musician and music writer James McQuillen, whose commentary appears frequently in The Oregonian.
The musicians, in order of audition times, are Ezra Bartz, piano; Anna Ballard, piano; Siaw-Sing Koo, piano; Camelia Nine, soprano; Nichole Graybeal, cello; Ji-Won Lee, piano; Elizabeth Hoffman, flute; Lisa Golda, soprano; and Lara Wickes, oboe.
The Petri Music-Study Scholarship is administered by the Benton County Foundation; auditions are coordinated by the OSU Department of Music. Auditions are held every other year.
