CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Foundation has announced that Mark Kralj has been named chair-elect of the foundation's Board of Trustees.
As chair-elect, Kralj will work with the foundation leadership and governing boards to build a strong base of private support for Oregon State University.
"Mark Kralj has been an exceptional and long-standing volunteer and supporter of the university," said James Reinmuth, OSU Foundation president and CEO. "His leadership and financial expertise are a great asset for OSU. Mark understands the economy of the Northwest and the different regions of the state. We are honored and delighted to have him on board."
A 1977 graduate of OSU's College of Business, Kralj is a principal and portfolio manager at Ferguson Wellman Capital Management, Inc. Before joining the firm in 1989, he was a portfolio manager for high net-worth clients at First Interstate Bank. He is a member and past president of the Portland Society of Financial Analysts.
In addition to his service for the OSU Foundation, Kralj is actively involved with several non-profit organizations. He is a trustee and chairman of the finance committee for the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation; board trustee and chairman of the planning giving committee of the Oregon Symphony Foundation; chair of the investment committee for the American Red Cross Oregon Trail Chapter, where he served as a board member for six years; and trustee for the Wildlife Safari.
Kralj also recently completed a three-year term as chair of the National American Red Cross Endowment Fund, where he has served as a trustee since 1997. The trustees oversee the investments of a $1.5 billion fund representing the organization's national endowment, its chapter endowments and other special funds - including its 9/11 Liberty Fund.
