CORVALLIS - Tad Schwager, a master's degree candidate at Oregon State University's College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, has received a resource fellowship through Oregon Sea Grant and is spending the summer studying lingcod and their effect on the recovery of rockfish species in the Pacific Northwest.
Schwager will work with Steve Theberge, an Extension Sea Grant agent working in Astoria, and Gil Sylvia of OSU's Coastal Oregon Marine Experiment Station. Schwager's study will look at whether strong predator populations have inhibited the recovery of rockfish species, which have been the subject of recent limitations by fisheries managers.
