CORVALLIS - The executive director of the Oregon Center for Public Policy will analyze Oregon's economy from the perspective of the worker in a talk on Tuesday, May 27, at Oregon State University.

Charles Sheketoff's lecture, "Amnesia and Doonesbury's Fodder: Oregon's Response to Boom and Bust," begins at 4 p.m. in Memorial Union Room 206. It is free and open to the public.

In his talk, Sheketoff will discuss the latest biennial report by the Oregon Center for Public Policy. Called "Boom, Bust & Beyond," the report shows how Oregon workers fared in the 1990s boom, and what has happened during the recent recession. Sheketoff also will look into the future and offer his opinion on what may happen next based on past economic recovery trends.

Sheketoff founded the Oregon Center for Public Policy in 1997. The non-profit, non-partisan research institute aims to advance policies and practices that improve the economic and social prospects of low- and moderate-income Oregonians, he said. Sheketoff previously had lobbied the Oregon Legislature on behalf of low-income clients of legal aid services.

The lecture is part of the American Culture & Politics Speaker Series 2003, sponsored by OSU's Horning Lecture Series.
