CORVALLIS - Students from Oregon State University's Air Force ROTC detachment will participate in a variety of community service events this weekend.

The cadets will be involved in building a house through Habitat for Humanity, a flag presentation at the Oregon PTA meeting in Eugene, and a volunteer assistance project for the Corvallis Fire Department, according to Cadet Scott R. Macumber.

The Habitat for Humanity project will take place on Saturday from 8 a.m. until mid-afternoon. Five to 10 cadets will assist in the construction of housing for disadvantaged families at the corner of 5th and B streets in Corvallis.

On Friday morning, five cadets will post the U.S. and Oregon flags at the Oregon PTA meeting in Eugene, and then retrieve them Saturday evening.

The volunteer assistance project with the Corvallis Fire Department is part of a joint national service project of the Arnold Air Society, an Air Force cadet association. As part of the project, 10 to 15 cadets will assist fire department personnel with various duties this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon at the main fire station, 400 N.W. Harrison in Corvallis.
