CORVALLIS, Ore. – Auditions will be held on Jan. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. for Oregon State University Theatre’s play “Street Theater.” The auditions will be held in the OSU Lab Theatre, 30th and Campus Way.
Actors are needed for 14 parts. No prepared materials are required. The script will be available in advance starting on Jan. 7 at the OSU Theatre box office in Withycombe Hall.
Doric Wilson's 1982 play is a satirical take on the Stonewall rebellion of 1969, when patrons in a Greenwich Village inn barricaded themselves inside during a police raid on the gay bar. The ensuing riot paved the way for the beginning of the modern gay rights movement.
The play features an ensemble cast which includes the bar manager, police officers, leather-clad men, drag queens, flower children, and other figures from that era.
The play will be performed March 6-9. For information, contact the play’s director, Ajai Tripathi, at abbejabbi@yahoo.com.
