CORVALLIS - The Academic Success Center at Oregon State University will hold a grand opening celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Waldo Hall on the OSU campus.

OSU President Ed Ray, interim Provost Sabah Randhawa and interim Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and International Programs Rebecca Johnson will speak during the celebration.

Music by the Maharimba Band will play from 3 to 5 p.m. outside Waldo Hall. Refreshments will be served as well.

A ribbon cutting with Ray will begin at 3:15 p.m.

An open house and tours of the Academic Success Center (101 Waldo Hall), the Center for Writing and Learning and Writing Intensive Curriculum (125B Waldo Hall), and Collaborative Learning Center in the Valley Library will follow.

The Academic Success Center supports student success by offering advising for undeclared majors (UESP), providing information and referral, coordinating tutoring services and training, and offering success courses (ALS 116 Academic Success, ALS 199 Academic Passport, ALS 114 Career Decision Making) and coordinating the development of Transitional Learning Communities.

The new center will serve as the hub for efficient and vital connections to advisers, the learning centers, the colleges, and the new Center for Teaching and Learning.
