CORVALLIS - The University Theatre program at Oregon State University will present a student-directed play called "The Stonewater Rapture" that looks at issues of faith and emerging sexuality against the backdrop of a conservative Texas town.

The play will run Feb. 13-15 at the Withycombe Hall Lab Theater, located at the east entrance of Withycombe Hall, 30th and Campus Way in Corvallis.

All performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and patrons must be seated on time. Latecomers cannot be seated because of the configuration of the theater. Tickets are priced at $2.

Set in the town of Stonewater, Texas, "The Stonewater Rapture" is a portrayal of teenagers Whitney and Carlyle, who find themselves caught up in the conservative nature of their upbringing - encountering others in the town who are pushing them away from their conservatism.

When Carlyle becomes the victim of a horrific crime, she falls back upon her faith - and her friend Whitney.

Making his OSU debut as director of the student production is John Clemson IV, a senior in computer engineering from Boring, Ore. Clemson directed "On the B-Line" at the University of British Columbia last year while on a student exchange.

Robin Collier will portray Carlyle. The sophomore recently transferred to OSU from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

Halo Bontly, a senior in theater arts, will play Whitney. He is making his University Theatre debut, though he has appeared on television.
