BEND - An "Excellence in Management" series to improve leadership and performance skills in the workplace will be offered this spring by Oregon State University-Cascades Campus.

The workshop series should provide significant assistance to business leaders across Central Oregon and reflects the commitment of OSU-Cascades to aid the region's economic growth, educators say. All of the sessions are one day long and will be held on a Friday. They include:

  • March 7: A workshop on "Transformational Leadership" focuses on the skills required to create an organization's future and produce breakthrough performance.
  • April 4: "Building Trust in the Workplace" outlines the tools and methods that have been proven to foster trust at all levels of an organization.
  • May 9: "Developing High Performance Work Teams" explores the increasing emphasis on team solutions, the characteristics of high performance teams and the strategies to improve team dynamics and performance.
  • June 6: "Basic Project Management Fundamentals" outlines the tools and techniques being used today to manage project scope, budget, schedule, resources, relationships and risk. "It's often difficult to find time for professional development," said Marla Hacker, one of the course instructors. "The Excellence in Management series is designed to make it easier to stay in touch with current best practices. We hope many people attend a workshop of interest, several workshops, or the entire series."
