CORVALLIS, Ore. – R. Logen Logendran, a professor in the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University, has been named a fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.

The award recognizes outstanding leaders of the industrial engineering profession who have made significant contributions to the field.

Logendran has been recognized for his significant research contributions in two aspects of manufacturing systems – the design of cellular manufacturing and group scheduling. He has also won awards for teaching, held prominent research fellowship positions, and made significant contributions to industry-relevant problems, officials said.

Logendran received his doctoral degree in industrial engineering and management from Oklahoma State University, has authored or co-authored more than 90 professional publications, and conducts research in cellular manufacturing, group scheduling, routing and scheduling, facilities layout design, manufacturing simulation and integration of design and manufacturing.

The Institute of Industrial Engineers is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession, and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. It was founded in 1948 and has 15,000 members and 280 chapters around the world.
