CORVALLIS - Choral conducting students from Oregon State University's Department of Music will give their public recital by conducting a performance by the University Chorale on Thursday, June 2, beginning at noon in the Memorial Union lounge.

The free concert is the final performance for the weekly Music à la Carte concert series for this school year.

The University Chorale is open to all students, faculty, and staff at OSU and meets in two sections for one hour each.

"With no audition required, the University Chorale gives participants the opportunity to sing just for the joy of singing," said Steven Zielke, director of choral studies. "It also gives our conducting students a laboratory for learning, practicing, and performing."

The concert will feature choral spirituals, motets, madrigals, and folk songs and highlight several soloists. Students will rotate conducting duties throughout the performance.
