CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Foundation has announced that Megan Gillick will be the new senior director of development for intercollegiate athletics. Gillick is the assistant vice president for major gifts for Georgetown University Medical Center.
Gillick has 12 years experience in fundraising, including work for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Northwestern University School of Law and Colgate University.
"Megan is uniquely qualified for this position," said Mike Goodwin, OSU Foundation president and CEO. "She has a broad range of experience at four very different institutions. She brings a great portfolio of skills to the table."
Over the course of her career, Gillick has handled a variety of fundraising activities, including major gifts, annual giving, events, ticket sales as well as volunteer and membership programs. Goodwin said that hiring Gillick shows a commitment to best practices that will take OSU athletics fundraising to the next level.
In her new position, Gillick will develop and lead a fundraising program for OSU's intercollegiate athletics, overseeing a staff and collaborating with the athletic department. "It is absolutely my dream job," said Gillick. "The opportunity to represent a development program for a Pac-10 school is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I am incredibly impressed by the program at OSU and the commitment of the fans."
OSU has several fundraising priorities for athletics including scholarships, the expansion of Reser Stadium and the proposed Gill Annex. The university and the foundation are also preparing to launch OSU's first campus-wide fundraising campaign.
"Megan brings a wealth of experience in fundraising to Oregon State University," said Bob De Carolis, OSU's athletic director. "Her knowledge and enthusiasm will be a welcome addition not only to the athletic department but also to the entire university. I'm looking forward to her joining our team."
The OSU Foundation is the nonprofit organization chartered to raise and administer private funds for Oregon State University. The foundation has total assets of $441.5 million and an endowment of more than $277.7 million. Gillick is slated to start at the foundation in July.
