CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Alumni Association has honored four individuals with awards for leadership, achievement and contributions to OSU.

Recipients include Patrick Stone of Portland; and Johnnie and Carol Rice, Dean Frischknecht and Kate Hunter-Zaworski, all of Corvallis.

Stone, a 1974 graduate of the College of Liberal Arts, was honored with the E.B. Lemon Award, which recognizes alumni whose accomplishments and contributions to society have brought credit to OSU. He is president and principal of Bretton Woods, Inc., a consulting firm for title insurance, mortgage lending and real estate technology companies. Prior to his work with Bretton Woods, Stone was CEO and director of Fidelity National Information Solutions, a Fortune 500 company.

Stone and his wife Vicki are supporters of Oregon State's academic, research and athletic programs, and he has been a dedicated volunteer for the university, serving his second term as an OSU Foundation trustee and co-chairing The Campaign for OSU.

The Rices received the Jean and C.H. "Scram" Graham Leadership Award, which honors individuals who promote the alumni association. Together they have planned nearly 20 class reunions and both were campus leaders during their student days. Lifetime members of the alumni association, the Rices helped create a system of contacting classmates to encourage attendance that is still used by the association today.

Frischknecht, received the 2009 Honorary Alumni Award. Established in 2005 this award honors non-alumni who support and advance OSU in the tradition of its alumni. A livestock specialist, Frischknecht worked to keep Oregon ranchers at the forefront of the cattle and sheep industries. Among his many contributions to the industry was the key role he played in creating performance records for cattle, with a focus on livestock improvement.

Hunter-Zaworski, an associate professor in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering, received the OSU Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award. The award recognizes faculty members for superior academic performance, professional renown and service to the university and society. She directs the National Center for Accessible Transportation, where she has spent the past 25 years developing safe and dignified means of access to public transportation for people with disabilities. She earned a doctorate in civil engineering from OSU in 1988.
