CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University Board of Trustees on Friday approved a $1.84 billion budget to support university operations for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

The budget incorporates the financial impact of tuition and fee increases approved by the board in April. The projected revenue takes into account a modest increase in state appropriations and growing enrollment, primarily at Oregon State’s online education provider Ecampus, steady growth at OSU-Cascades in Bend and modest growth in Corvallis.

The budget also incorporates expected declines in some revenue streams, including athletics conference revenues. The university is also working to mitigate uncertainty around the potential enrollment impacts of timing delays in the federal government’s new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process.

On Friday, the board also:

• Approved an increase in budget from $50 million to $83.1 million for the university’s Administrative Modernization Program. The program will implement new university technology systems, data practices and policies to increase the university’s organizational agility and eventually result in cost savings. The increase in budget is driven by expanding the scope of the project, higher than expected implementation costs and adding contingency funds.
• Approved the educator equity plan, required by state statute to encourage recruitment, admission, retention and graduation of diverse educators.
• Heard updates on federal legislative developments, OSU-Cascades, and economic development and industry relations, and a presentation on the fundamentals of board governance.

An executive session was held Thursday pursuant to Oregon Revised Statues 192.660(2)(d) to conduct deliberations with persons designated by the governing to carry on labor negotiations. No decisions were made in the executive session.
