OSU art professor dies, leaves behind legacy of social justice artwork (Democrat-Herald)

Julie Green — artist, teacher, human, friend — spent their life honoring the lives of others through art. The Oregon State University art professor taught painting and mentored countless students over their 21-year career with the school. They died of ovarian cancer at 60 on Oct. 12. Green preferred using they/them pronouns.

Found object: Facilities Services staff replacing a compressor in Graf Hall found this maintenance tag from 1936, just 16 years after the building was constructed in 1920. Graf Hall is currently undergoing renovations, which include accessibility updates and new restrooms on every floor, a new mechanical system, electrical upgrades, installation of a generator and programmatic improvements of some office and support spaces. In addition, the connecting bridge between Graf Hall and Rogers Hall will be reconstructed and brought up to modern accessibility standards.

UPDATED! $15K of Funding Available: The OSU Advantage Accelerator is seeking applications that describe technology-based projects that will move OSU-owned technologies closer to commercialization. Proposals should describe a project that requires $15,000 or less of funding to achieve an important milestone(s) connected to commercialization. Proposals can include expenses for activities related to customer discovery, prototyping, student time, research, commercialization plan development and more. Each project should span nine months or less, beginning in January 2022. Proposals due by 5 p.m. Nov. 30.

Apply for an Affordable Learning Grant by Nov. 30: OSU's Open Educational Resources Unit is accepting proposals for the Affordable Learning Grant. The ALG provides funding to adopt, adapt or author an open educational resource, such as a textbook.
