As wildfire season approaches, scientists from Oregon State University are studying how embers spread flames from one building to another.
Researchers from Oregon State University have been exploring this idea for the past 20 years, studying both the general ecology of chanterelles in Northwest forests and how specific forest management practices can affect their growth.

Straw bales take up little space and produce almost anything you can grow in an in-ground garden, said Brooke Edmunds, a horticulturist with Oregon State University Extension Service. The rectangular straw bales bring gardening up to a more manageable height for people with disabilities. And if your soil is impossibly compacted clay, straw bales come to the rescue by providing an organic raised bed without the materials, labor and permanence of built ones.

Automated Driving System research: The School of Civil and Construction Engineering and the School of Psychological Science are seeking paid volunteers for research studies. The purpose of this research study is to make Automated Driving System (ADS) vehicles safer for pedestrians with disabilities. 30th Street: SW 30th Street will be closed in both directions between SW Washington Way and SW Campus Way on Tuesday, May 28 for pothole repairs. The east-west intersection at SW Jefferson Way will remain open during this closure. Sidewalks will remain open.
Campus Way: As part of the Kelley District Utility Plant project, SW Campus Way between SW 26th Street and SW Memorial Place will be closed May 29-June 10. The closure is necessary to allow for crane activity related to the project. Unlike recent, intermittent closures related to the project, this will be a continuous closure of Campus Way. The Kelley Engineering Center south entrance will also be closed. The north sidewalk and both bicycle lanes in this section of Campus Way will be closed during this time period.
