“This kind of a phenomenon is certainly not something that I’ve ever been aware of,” said Oregon State University marine ecologist Bruce Menge, who studies how currents shape coastal ecosystems but was not involved in the fish kill research, published today in Nature Climate Change.
“I believe that artificial intelligence is the technology industry’s single greatest contribution to social elevation, to lift all of the people that have historically been left behind,” Huang said in a talk Friday at Oregon State University, which was breaking ground on a computing research building named for Huang and his wife, Lori, who are both Oregon State grads. In Oregon, no schools have made an announcement to require scores again. Milyon Trulove is the vice president and dean of admission and financial aid at Reed College. Jon Boeckenstedt is the vice provost of enrollment management at Oregon State University.
The idea is to remove some of the guesswork involved in figuring out whether a vineyard block will be worth the investment. The tree fruit industry commissions cost-of-production calculators for several varieties of apples, pears and cherries; organic versus conventional production; and mechanization techniques — usually through grants that fund the work of agricultural economists from Washington State University and Oregon State University.
“We’re seeing much higher error rates from students,” said Jon Boeckenstedt, vice provost for enrollment management at Oregon State University. Though he didn’t have exact numbers, he said it seemed to be 3 to 4 times as many as in previous years.

Water is Power: The Gila River Project. Join artist Joel Slayton and scientist Lisa Johanson as they share their work on the Gila River Project, which investigates one of America’s most expansive ecosystems. They will share details about their mobile laboratory/studio and location-based research, which explores the complex connections between natural and artificial challenges to the river and the environmental and human adaptations shaping its future. 4 p.m. April 16 at Detrick Hall in PRAx.

Take Back the Night: Take Back the Night is an internationally recognized event held to protest sexual violence in all its forms and to provide a safe, confidential space for survivors of sexual violence to share their stories. This year's Take Back the Night at OSU will be held from 7-10 p.m., April 25 in the SEC Plaza and will feature a rally with keynote speakers and student performers, a march and a survivor speakout. There will be an exception made to OSU's responsible employee reporting requirements for this event regarding any disclosures of sexual assault. Confidential CAPS counselors and survivor advocates from CAPE and CARDV will be on site to provide support and connection to resources.

Dominant Design and Disruptive Production Innovation Seminar: Frank Koppenhagen, visiting professor in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering (MIME), will give an overview of his responsibilities and activities at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. 2024 CEOAS Earth Day Lecture: Bold Solutions, Better Planet. Taste Sensitivity Study: We are looking for participants for a research study examining how hunger state influences taste sensitivities to carbohydrates. Participants must be healthy, non-smokers and non-diabetic, aged 18-45. The study will involve performing taste sensitivity tests before and after eating a provided meal.
