William Massey, an assistant professor in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University, said that it comes down to basic human physiology. “If you think about the body of research in general and what happens to the human stress response system … when we are super stressed, it cuts off some of those pathways to the higher order learning parts of our brain,” he said. And we know that play, and positive social interaction and physical activity and quality relationships with adults are things that essentially can prime the brain for learning.”
Salisbury said the institute in no way intends to displace research into grass seed production systems being done by Oregon State University personnel. “We are here to complement and build off of that research and hopefully the entire industry benefits from this,” he said.

Mahmood Muttaqee, a doctoral candidate of public policy at Oregon State University (OSU), has decided to take another approach. He and his team are investigating what the community thinks — the local concerns and perceptions that can prevent villages and towns from giving community microgrids the green light. The team is interviewing local officials, microgrid developers and other stakeholders and surveying media and academic reports.

NEW! Bi-Mart Autopay Program: Effective April 1, OSU’s Autopay agreement with Bi-Mart will end. As a result of this change, OSU employees will no longer be able to direct bill purchases from Bi-Mart to a department index. Bi-Mart has indicated they will not be entering into direct bill agreements with individual OSU departments. Starting in April, it is recommend to use a University Credit Card to make purchases from Bi-Mart. TRIAD 2022-23 Service Scholarship: The TRIAD Service Scholarship recognizes service as a value worthy of encouragement. This year the award is for $500. Apply for an Affordable Learning Grant: OSU's Open Educational Resources Unit is accepting proposals for the Affordable Learning Grant through March 29. The grant provides funding to adopt, adapt or author an open educational resource, such as a textbook. An open textbook is one that is published under an open copyright license and made freely available online for students, faculty and the public. All funding is a department-to-department transfer. The 34th Annual Provost’s Literary Prize for undergraduate students at OSU is open for submissions. Keith Scribner in the School of Writing, Literature and Film and the screening committee are seeking help from faculty to identify candidates for the prize. The literary work can be fiction, poetry, drama, or creative nonfiction written for a general audience. The winner will be awarded $500 and on-campus publication.
