CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State University Board of Trustees will meet on Friday, Jan. 29, to elect its board chair and vice chair for two-year terms effective July 1, and to consider a presidential compensation philosophy and adjustment. The board will also discuss Oregon State's efforts to advance equity and social justice.

The meeting will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Horizon Room of the Memorial Union, 2501 S.W. Jefferson Way in Corvallis. It is open to the public. 

In addition, the OSU board will receive an update on the university's 10-year business strategy, which is under development, and host a panel discussion regarding housing availability, cost and type in the Corvallis area.

A public comment period is provided at each board meeting. Commenters are allowed up to five minutes and may register by e-mail before the meeting with Marcia Stuart at marcia.stuart@oregonstate.edu or may register at the meeting. Commenters must sign up prior to the public comment period of the meeting.

Each of the board's three standing committees will meet on Thursday, Jan. 28, in the Horizon Room of the Memorial Union. These meetings are also open to the public:

  • The Executive & Audit Committee will meet from 8 to 10:15 a.m. to review the annual audit report and plan, hear a presentation on university risk management, and consider nominations for electing the board chair and vice chair. The committee will consider a presidential compensation philosophy and adjustment and review plans for a comprehensive assessment of the president.  
  • There will be a joint meeting of the Executive & Audit and Finance & Administration Committees from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. to consider the fiscal year 2015 annual financial statements. 
  • The Finance & Administration Committee will meet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to consider board-related responsibilities for interim vice presidents for finance and for administration and to review the annual internal bank report. The committee will also discuss its charter and work plan, the fiscal year 2015 annual financial statement analysis, and the 2017-19 legislative funding request process.
  • The Academic Strategies Committee will meet from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. to discuss undergraduate learning, processes for reviewing new and existing academic programs, and the draft evaluation report produced by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission.
