CORVALLIS, Ore. - Dan Savage, co-creator of a campaign called "It Gets Better," which is designed to address the epidemic of gay teen suicides, will speak at Oregon State University on Monday night as the keynote speaker for OSU's Pride Week celebration.

Savage's talk will begin at 7 p.m. in the LaSells Stewart Center. Persons with university ID will be admitted beginning at 6:30 pm.; all others will be admitted beginning at 6:45 p.m. Admission is free.

The nationally known Savage, who is author of a syndicated sex column ("Savage Love") in The Stranger, Seattle's weekly alternative newspaper, will answer audience questions about sex, LGBT life and bullying. He is known for his frank discussions of sexuality in all forms.

Savage has worked as a political columnist for Salon.com, and is the author of several books, including "The Kid: What Happened After my Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant."

The event is co-sponsored by the Rainbow Continuum and Intercultural Student Services.

Pride Week: Powered by Rainbow begins Sunday, May 8, with a Pride Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center Ballroom, and a candlelight vigil from 8 to 9 p.m. in the MU Quad.

Savage's keynote address is the highlight for Monday, and the rest of the week includes a number of activities ranging from a multi-generational panel to an art exhibit. The annual OSU Drag Show takes place Friday, May 13, from 7 to 11:30 p.m. in the MU Ballroom.
